Who qualifies for a $0 Obamacare plan in Florida in 2027?
In 2027, a $0 premium usually means a bronze plan whose price is fully covered by your federal tax credit. You generally need income between 100% and 400% of the poverty level, no affordable job-based coverage, and an eligible status such as citizen or green card holder. $0 silver plans are now rare.

What changed since 2025
The enhanced tax credits that made many silver plans free expired at the end of 2025 and were not extended. For 2027, people below 133% of the poverty level are expected to pay about 2.15% of income toward the benchmark silver plan, rising to 10.22% at 300% to 400%, and there is no help above 400% (KFF). So a free silver plan is no longer the norm, but a tax credit can still be larger than the price of the cheapest bronze plan. CMS says most HealthCare.gov shoppers can find a plan at $50 a month or less (CMS).
Who qualifies
- Income from 100% to 400% of the federal poverty level, for 2027 about $15,960 to $63,840 for one person and $33,000 to $132,000 for a family of four (HHS).
- US citizens, green card holders, Cuban and Haitian entrants and COFA migrants. Other lawfully present immigrants can buy a plan but get no tax credit from January 1, 2027 (KFF).
- No affordable employer offer (for 2027, employee-only coverage costing 10.22% of household income or less counts as affordable).
The catch
A $0 bronze plan usually has a deductible of several thousand dollars. You may pay full price for most care until you reach it. If your income is under 250% of the poverty level, a silver plan with cost-sharing reductions may cost a little each month but far less when you use care. Federal rules also now bar agents from claiming everyone will qualify for $0, so be wary of ads that promise it.
